General Information:

What Is Project Vision?:

There is a critical need for Teachers of Students with Visual Impairments (TVI) and Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialists (COMS) nationwide. In an attempt to help meet that need, SFA's Department of Human Services has implemented a distance learning project which is funded by the Office of Special Education Programs. Project VISION is a collaborative effort in which five states (Idaho, Montana, Texas, Washington, and Wyoming) receive training for future TVIs and COMS via interactive television over IP and other web based methods of delivery.

What Is OIT's Role?:

The role of The Office of Instructional Technology in Project Vision is to provide technical consulting and assistance in utilizing newer H.323 (IP) videoconferencing technologies and web streaming for delivery of this instruction to distant sites.  Emerging technologies are proving that this method of delivery is an easy and cost-effective way to reach students.

Announcements:

New: The Video Vault streaming video archives will be deleted to make space for the new Summer Semester archives on May 19th.  Please review all archived classes desired from the Spring Semester before this date.

Please Note: If you have questions for the professor during class, please call them in at (936) 468-2110.  This is a live call directly to the videoconference classroom, so you might want to wait until there is an appropriate time for questioning.

Attention Technical Personnel:  If possible, please try to connect about fifteen minutes early on each day of class.  This will give us a chance to test all of the sites before class begins.
