Program and Course Development

OIT provides guidance to departments and faculty regarding the development, delivery and technical requirements for distance education. When planning to deliver distance education, department chairs and instructors should begin their preparation by meeting with OIT to complete the Distance Education Strategic Planning Guide. This workbook assists strategic planners in gathering the necessary information and resources needed to deliver distance education courses.

Instructors preparing to deliver Web-enhanced or predominantly Web-based courses should attend the required Faculty Development Workshops. After completing the necessary training, OIT recommends that instructors pilot the course with Web enhancements for one semester before delivering the course completely online.
