SFA Library

The Distance Education Orientation web page (http://libweb.sfasu.edu/access/deorient/default.htm) explains how to connect to the Ralph W. Steen Library, find and get a book, article, newspaper, or government document. In addition, a convenient map is available at http://libweb.sfasu.edu/access/index.html to help students find library support in locations around the state.

Through the library website (http://libweb.sfasu.edu), distance education users can access the public catalog containing holdings of both the Stephen F. Austin State University and the Nacogdoches Public Library. Valid SFASU users can directly search numerous general and subject-specific computer-based indexes, and can, in many cases, view the text of the information. A proxy server in the library allows users to access library indexes and servers through any Internet browser.

In August 2000, the SFASU library pages introduced the library wizard, Calli (http://libweb.sfasu.edu/subject/default.htm), that provides electronic information by subject. Calli will direct distant students to books, articles, e-journals, discussion lists, and reserve online resources by discipline. Ralph W. Steen Library also participates in the TexShare Library Card program which provides free reciprocal borrowing privileges to faculty, students, and staff of Texas colleges and universities.
